COTA Featured in OncLive – Data Analytics Making Inroads Into Oncology Practices

Data analytics is not a new concept in healthcare – in some areas, these tools have already been used for decades. However in oncology, where each patient journey and treatment path is unique, these solutions have been slower to take hold.

New technology is changing that, as oncology practices are tapping into the power of data analytics to help identify patients at risk of relapse or adverse events. In some cases, this technology is also helping assist with clinical decisions on care, or answer complex questions around similar patient groups or outcomes.

Around this growing interest and adoption, COTA’s chief medical officer, Dr. C.K. Wang, recently spoke with OncLive about how COTA’s analytics platform helps cancer centers correlate care patterns with outcomes. The platform, called Real-World Analytics (RWA), collects clinical data and extracts outcomes from this information to illuminate care delivery trends.

According to Dr. Wang, “It’s not unusual for centers to not fully understand what types of patients they see and the specific characteristics of those patients. As we move to a value-based reimbursement model, they need to understand how patients are being treated and with what drugs and the outcomes of those therapies.”
